A southern rock az Amerika déli államaiban kialakult redneck zenei stílus, amely 1960-1970-es évek fordulóján teljesedett ki. A rock&roll és a blues alapjaira épül némi countrys és folkos beütéssel. A zenében hangsúlyos az elektromos gitár és az ének. A dalokban gyakran elhangzik, hogy „a dél újra feltámad” - ezért a southern rock mindig élni fog.
