Alabama Band
Alabama is a Grammy Award-winning country music act. Throughout the 1980s, they were one of the biggest selling country music acts in the world.
The band started in 1969 by Jeff Cook, Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry as Young Country. In 1973 they quit their day jobs and became full time musicians, adding drummer Mark Kerndon in 1979 after many unsuccessful attempts and getting and keeping a permanent fourth member. After they were signed by RCA Records, they released their first hit single in "Tennessee River" in 1980.
